The Bible Society of Zambia (BSZ) was established in 1966, thanks to Mary Jones and her Bible. From humble beginnings in 1966, the BSZ has been through both good and challenging times to where it is today.

The Mission of the Bible Society of Zambia is to translate the Bible into local languages, in different formats and distribute it to all parts of the country at a price each person can afford. Some of the activities of the society currently are:-

i)Translation- to date 14 of the 72 Zambian languages have a Bible or a New Testament translated into.

ii)Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH)- which is a program to spread the Word of God through audio voices. FCBH has recorded Chewa, Bemba, Tonga and Lozi. Listening groups which have been received overwhelmingly are active in Lusaka, Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern provinces of Zambia. Some radio stations in the mentioned provinces are airing the programs while long distance buses are also making use of the opportunity.

iii)Distribution- ensures that the published Bibles are distributed to all parts of the country.

iv)Fundraising- raises funds for the society to carry on its various projects. Other activities are Publishing, Media and Research, HIV/AIDS, Outreach and Mission support and Literacy. We are grateful to our partners who have continued to support us and we look forward to more support to assist outreach and literacy programs which include: i) bread for a Bible ii) Youth empowerment through Bible distribution iii) Literacy- to help adults learn to read the Bible Other areas which need support are Translation of ciTonga Study Bible, Completion of Nkoya Bible and HIV/ AIDS projects.

We echo the words of the Psalmist who in Psalm 34:3 says: Proclaim with us the Lord’s Greatness; let us praise his name.
